Overview: With problems such as spam, viruses, and denial-of-service attacks that cripple large-profile Web servers such as banks, credit card payment gateways, and even DNS root servers – not to mention the exploding need for URLs to accommodate all kinds of new devices, from cars to mobile phones to wireless sensors – many people are saying the current Internet is broken and needs to be replaced. Since 1996, the non-profit Internet2 consortium has been living the future of the Internet by developing, deploying, and using new high-bandwidth networking technologies like DVD-quality videoconferencing, identity federation, telemedicine, and distance-learning that are three to five years ahead of the current global commercial Internet.
Internet2 today provides a nationwide, high-performance, 100-Gbit/s network to nearly 300 member organizations (including 43 corporate members) and more than 50,000 research and education institutions including colleges, high schools, museums, and libraries across the United States. Webinar participants from the Internet2 consortium will discuss a host of new technologies and cutting-edge applications that have been developed on the Internet2 test bed network. This includes the Internet2’s Dynamic Circuit Network (DCN) switching service that creates short-term circuits between end-users that require dedicated bandwidth, which will be especially useful for organizations building cloud computing applications, or who need to make more efficient use of resources by controlling their own traffic patterns and having a dedicated environment that is under their control.
This one-of-a-kind Webinar gives you a look into the future of the Web by people who have first-hand experience developing and using a wide range of intriguing high-bandwidth applications.

A picture is worth a thousand words, or so the old saying goes. So understanding how to use images in e-newsletters effectively is quite important. Here are a few tips to ensure that your images in email newsletters work to your advantage.
Arms merchant or army? That's a fundamental question for vendors in the cloud computing space. Do they just sell their tooling to any and all comers, who then become the actual purveyors of hosted infrastructure, developer platforms, and software? Or do they offer their own cloud-based services, perhaps even keeping much of their technology in-house for competitive advantage?
With the value of toxic assets on the rise, large U.S. and European banks face many challenges on the road to recovery. Sharing key information may help these firms effectively track the way forward.
Most of us go through life knowing that we’re expected to learn from our mistakes and improve. Those who are more conscientious about learning and personal improvement usually reap greater rewards.
Marketers are known for exaggerated claims and stretching the truth just a wee bit. But most marketers I know truly believe in what they sell. Their aggressiveness is based on a confidence that what they are promoting truly benefits the customer.
