If by marketing types, Mary, you mean people who are intuitive, creative and like to use software that goes with their flow, then I think user-friendly project management software is something that should have come along quite some time ago.  Marketing focuses more and more on social media and tools of any kind that incorporate social networking make sense across all business functions.

I've always wondered why, in this day and age of social media and viral videos, that we're still seeing classic marketing.  Do they really think that the coveted 18-25 demographic is still watching network TV or reading newspapers and magazines?  There is a serious disconnect between what the classic marketing types are doing, and where the market is actually headed.  Yes, we see the occasional foray into a Facebook page or a Twitter account, but the CxO types on Mahogany Row need to start paying attention to what their 20-something interns are telling them, or they will soon be retired a bit sooner than they had anticipated.  Mary, I like your idea that new tools will fit in nicely with the way the classic marketing types work, but if they're facing in the wrong direction, they're not going to be seeing where they need to go.
