Good point. The emergence of the low cost Web cams and commoditization of video capabilties is one reason why the vendors are getting out of the hardware market. HD was once very expensive and commanded a premium. Not any more.
Very true, Paul! I've been to a few sales demos of videoconferencing systems and while they did look great, I couldn't recommend them to my company. The investment in equipment is usually so high and you're sometimes tied to a specific service provider, neither of which could really assure anyone that their model is sustainable. I'd opt for better Internet connections andd HD webcams anytime of the day.
