Comcast is already bundling home security services with its video and phone and internet services. The thing I wonder is, with the rise of telepresence robots, will there ever be "mobile security" services that has an always-on mobile camera that can record your life wherever you go...

It will be interesting in a decade or two what this market looks like. Remember when telephones and TV were separate? This area seems to be moving in a similar direction. Question is how long will it take to get there?

At first, I was ready to guffaw at the prospect of more services in this area. Then I decided that these services actually sound helpful. And any improvement to home security is welcome.

Still, there appear to be layers of tech here that could lead to greater dependences by homeowners, leading to worse failures if the services go offline.

Now that many states have deregulated both the electrical power grid and opened the bidding to the consumer; I suppose it is a natural progression to offer more services once they take a foothold in one's home.
