Smartphone Download Time Poised to Increase - Wisdom of the Big Chair

To date, smartphone apps have only been able to work with 50Meg chunks of information. Well, recent technical advances have been able to boost that number to 4Gbytes. Consequently, developers will be able to work with more complex data types. But will wireless networks be able to handle the additional traffic?

Good point. The machines are getting more powerful quicker than the networks, so the carriers will need to do something to keep their customers happy.

I'm skeptical of anything that's going to make smartphones run slower. Users are already enduring slow speeds and are no longer getting the perks of unlimited data plans, service providers are testing out their throttling powers... I just wonder what solutions the providers are going to come up with, apart from raising monthly data plan fees and/or slowing down service.
