I have recently become obsessed with TED talks since it is streaming on Netflix. I am more that interested in this and plan on digging deeper. Thanks for the information. I do hope that my brain can figure out how (and why) to use it!

Conceptually, it sort of looks like twitter meets flipboard on a multi screen wall with some sort of haptic touch sensor in a box.

Does that come close?

Kim though i have not attented any TED events, I have the great honor of listening to a number of inspiring people whose ideas helped changed the world at TEDex , a sort of privately organised TED event. The idea behind TED is to encourage individuals to play their part ,however small ,in shapeing the world around them.Sharing these ideas via twitter is a very creative way of crowdsourcing ideas and thus arriving at a novel solution.

Fascinating, Kim.  Maybe you are prescribed to have the beers first!

Actually, I have met some people that think along these lines of "psychographics" and highly analytical models of people and their thought patterns.  I agree with you in that I am not sure that relates or always determines buying and/or decision making.

This is a fascinating accomplishment to make it look pretty.  I am certain that took a lot of work.

Do you suppose, Kim, that they did put their hands in the box and it resulted in their thinking?  It may be another example of technology displayed without relevant value.

I totally don't get the point of this thing at all... but, yes, pretty!

IT Suffers From Obama Admin's Jekyll & Hyde Approach to Privacy Rights
Ron Miller
Recently, the Obama administration has been of two minds where privacy rights are concerned. On one hand, you have an administration that vowed to
veto CISPA and mandated open data for government websites. On the other hand, you have an increasingly out-of-control Department of Justice on a fishing expedition at AP and demanding legislation to let the FBI wiretap private, encrypted communications and levy fines if a company fails to comply.

Websites Should Consider Tougher ID Verification Policies
Alan Reiter
The apartment and house sharing service,
Airbnb, now requires members to verify their identities by demonstrating a presence on the web, and by either scanning a government ID or entering detailed personal details. Other enterprises should take a close look at Airbnb's verification policies.
