Thanks again, everyone... our next IE Radio guest is Gregg Spiridellis, co-founder of political satire site JibJab.com -- the folks who brought us the Bush/Kerry animated duet of "This Land Is Your Land" in 2004. He's on Tuesday 11/24 at 2 pm ET.
Tried with both IE and Firefox. Same result. And java got updated yesterday along with my copy of IE 'cause I couldn't get any of the links to work in IE. None. It was weird.
I'm guessing the player is supposed to appear above the java chat area, since there's a big chunk of white space between the name of the visitor and youChat.
I actually didn't appreciate the personal asides and the off-topic stuff. We really appreciate your enthusiasm and great energy here, artfrankmiami. but my hope is that it could be better directed to the topic at hand and to the person in the guest chair
Yeah, I'm sorry it took so long too, artfrankmiami. A real squandered opportunity when we had one of the brightest minds of the Internet live and in person
To everyone at InEv. I know it was a bit racous today, but you have created a very nice conversational virtual roundtable for us. I actually felt like we were all in a room together talking about the subject.
Does Mr Roberts feel it is imperative that VoIP be allowed uninhibited on Cell phones? Sprint is basically giving it away now on a free Cell to Cell calling plan anyway (at 125 a month for two lines), so why quibble if calls are being made on the data plan?
I heard that Verizon and At&t (wireless) are going to merge. I have T-mobile and the wireless web is NOTHING in comparison to the sprint air card I borrowed from a friend.
After Wilma, I had to walk up to the cell tower across the street to get a call through. Opa Locka I had a 1 foot wide area in the middle of the street in fronmt of my job.
Currently I use the G1 phone using T-Mobile. That is partly due to which service works at my house, thus my phone choices are limited. But most Internet phones have similar services.
Once we have authentication security, we can hve network priority for emergency service. Then 911 and other emergency services can be supported effectively.
It would also help if VoIP could become a box unit, rather than always a computer hookup, and somehow rermained powered during blackouts and disateres to be effective. During the worst hurricanes, i could always make a call during the storm, but they always shut the system down after the all clear for emergency managment.
SPAM is today mainly economic due to the low cost of infecting many PC's and using these bots to send the SPAM. Once we do the right network security to improve the control of these infections, SPAM hopefully will become un-economic.
VoIP will become the standard for all voice within a few years so I doubt I will keep a land line then. But good QoS must be installed into the network first. VoIP on mobile is still a serious problem which flow management can fix but it needs to be fixed before VoIP replaces call or land lines totally.
Dr. Roberts... any thoughts on how social engineering is hindering Internet security? I wouldn't click on this link that Mr. Richard_Adams is touting. But someone like my mother would. - your thoughts?

Anagran has now produced an economic system that greatly improves QoS on over any congested part of the Internet. It has proven very effective for VoIP quality, Web access time and most all QoS.
borrowed from the web: what should happen now when the telcos want to exploit their monopoly position to extract extra value out of information services
I might be in the NEXT 5 percent. 5 percent of users..who are these users? not just P2P junkies...YOUTUBE? Hulu? ohhh, some other video sites that i'm not mentioning.
I put together this wiki plus IE video embed..just about 2 days ago..http://imvivo.com/DetailsView/tabid/104/IndexID/1793861/Default.aspx in regards to Network Neutrality. has over 800 views..must be a hot topic?
back in 2000, befre I got this job I have now, I was starting a web comic using photographs instead of drawings. Though I had a $5000 digital camera, I needed to shoot outside and it had to be connected to the computer to operate. It was just too expensive back then to shoot on film. Now it would be so easy, but I have no time.
Web Hosting. I love how affortdable it is compared to the crap I went through in 1998 on ONE SITE! $250 a year hosting and $70 for the domain (only minimum then was 2 years). Now I pay $99 and can have unlimited domains (and I can become a reseller if i want to) and a domain name is only $10 a year!
No it was something that IBM is developing or doing right now that they are more successful at than anyone else, I just can't think what the heck it is! The website thing was about my job, Hosting and building the site, which I feel they were not successful at. (at least back in 2000).
But I just recall when i started working at this job and accepted a call from IBM about building our website and it became a conference call with about 5 people in two different locations discussing things that had nothing to do with what we wanted and I could only think "What a bloated company!" But now I do hear they are going gangbusters, but I can't recall why, but the govt is trying to shut them down, I think for monopolistic attitudes, about something. (Oh, I type slow, paul)
Well, captivating is the right word today. I came across an old poster I designed of a photograph I took of model Monika Kramlik back in 2002, so I googled her and....Captivating is the right word ((;0)
wel, why not use the opportunity then? IBM is one of thos eleading companies that are shaping the tech world, so they must be offering soemthing exciting in the launch
I have no idea. I just got an e-mail invite and wondered if it was something I should attend. I guess being clueless is a good indicator i should go so I can learn what the heck it is and what it's used for.
Ha! I was just about to reply, "Carlos, how did he get here so fast again, and why don't you stay," and DARN, Paul beat me here first, then I realized it must be a bug in the system, becuase this is the same comment I saw Carlos made before...just look at the date...or he's been waiting for this broadcast since October 22! ((:0)
While Google introduces its new Chrome OS (which I'm hearing will be widely available in one year? Did I mishear that?), IBM announced 10 new products today to help companies using IBM System z mainframe technology.

Industry initiatives and government stimulus funds are giving enterprise software vendors a great opportunity to help build out and manage smart grid technologies.
The problem with telepresence is that it's not universally accepted, because video calling isn't. While we can all do video calling, we also apparently worry too much about how we look. If we want HD telepresence in our future, we have to dress down, mess up our hair, and dive into our online life.
The US loses about $20 billion a year on pirated software, movies, and music. But public policy can help stem the tide of digital theft. For example, France has recently passed a 'three strikes and you’re out' law, whereby if after two warning letters an individual continues to download pirated software then his Internet access will be cut off. US policy makers should consider adopting similar policies.
