I am an older Electronics Tech (yes i worked with tubes). I wrote my first computer program in 1970 using fortran, I've been addicted to tech since. My first "pc" was a Commodore 64 with a 300 baud modem. Compare that to my home network now of 4 desktops and 3 laptops connected by a CAT5e network running multiple OS's.
My operating system of choice is Ubuntu Linux, second choice is Open VMS.
My paying job is with US Postal Service where I fix everything at a mail processing plant. We have quite a telecommunications infrastructure. I sometimes dabble in management doing temporary details, someday I may bite.
When I'm not repairing, hacking, engineering, I relax with youth mentorship and community outreach programs. I volunteer with the Red Cross, I am a Red Cross Instructor and Instructor Trainer. I also work with the Boy Scouts, I've helped a few boys make Eagle. I'm involved in a computer recycling program. I serve on two committees that are working together to bring a fiber to the home program to rural Vermont.
Most importantly I am a husband and a dad. My 21 yo twins make me very proud...my daughter is a competitive figure skater and college student and my son is an Eagle Scout, a Brown Belt (Shojin Ryu Karate) as well as attending college.
