Great Post David. It's amazing how clueless and careless people can be. With all the talk about security I would think more people would be aware of this type of stuff. As you say, its not hard, but you need to know hoe to do it.
David , - That's scary somehow. I think the file sharing is actually a default setting with windows if i remember well. I think its high time windows guys made the default non-sharing. Some people hardly have any idea what file sharing is inthe first place and have never consciously used the feature.
The need to be cautious is absolutely vital. As it is, people are on the prowl going after data...why ask for trouble by using just a little bit of common sense? That, to me is the essence of your message to us all.
Anand Y - I get the impression that hotels don't run the networks themselves; they just partner with specialists. I expect the network companies don't secure the network because they can't be bothered. Why add an extra layer of complication?
