Charity through smartphone is a great idea. The convenience it offers would give a phenomenal boost the those individuals who bear philanthropic disposition but could not fulfil their desire of charity due to physical or circumstances compulsions. I believe if we make donation procedures comfortable and at the reach of our finger tips we could contribute a lot all over the world. It's such an encouraging news for needy, deserving and impoverished.

I meant to say as a confidence boosting measure not security. What would happen is that all those whose donations are accepted for a particular case, can check the website to confirm that their phone number is listed along with the right amount that was deducted.

Hope that clears the issue. Scalability should not be a a problem.

abdlah,

I don't mean to get too technial but is this something that is verified by humans or automated. Only because if it is human, is that scalable for the time being?

Fundamentally, it would be a type of text to donate model. But the overall architecture would be more elaborate. As a security measure there would be an Internet based verification of donations on a person to person basis.

Will it be identical to the current text-to-donate systems that charge your mobile carrier? Or will it be more advanced?

nathanwosnak: for our program we will be partering with the service providers and expect to get the same special code across all networks. We are in negotiations to have them give us the service for free as part of their corporate social responsibility.

If the partnership works we will be able to raise more money more quickly.

It was about 10 years ago when a new generation of software-as-a-service (SaaS) alternatives started to gain acceptance and adoption among organizations of all sizes. And it has only been about five years since Amazon Web Services captured the marketplace's attention with Amazon EC2 and Amazon S3, which opened the door to a vast array of infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) offerings. Now, the third piece of the cloud computing puzzle is beginning to win over organizations seeking to build their own apps: platform-as-a-service (PaaS).

Argument Over Top-Level Domains Is 'Stupid'

The whole Amazon.reader debate is a double-stupid. It's stupid to think that there's any e-book buyer who doesn't know Amazon's URL, and it was stupider to let ICANN launch the whole free-form TLD initiative to start with.
