You may be hanging on President Obama's every word, wondering whether or not his plea to Congress will result in authorization to conduct airstrikes in Syria.
But you would be in the minority, when you consider the other big news out this morning, the announcementof key cast members in the movie version of the hit novel, Fifty Shades of Grey.
Surely, I jest. Mostly.
But there was an interesting Interwebs angle here, which was that Shades author E.L. James actually announced the cast members yesterday morning via Twitter.
How Twitterciting!! (OK, can you sense just even a small dab of sarcasm??)
All right, you're a tough crowd, very tough.
So if you're not into post-Labor Day literary salaciousness, perhaps this one will capture and hold your attention: Microsoft's buying Nokia for $7.17 billion!
No? Not even a twinge of excitement??
AllThingsD's John Paczkowski reports Microsoft had several reasons for acquiring the once-leader in mobile phone technology.
Methinks the move was just a quick and easy way to acquire a replacement CEO for Steve Ballmer (not that ANYone could ever entirely replace Steve Ballmer).
But I have to say, the Microsoft/Nokia deal was mere peanuts when compared to the Vodafone-Verizon deal that went down over the holiday weeks, one worth an estimated $130 billion! In that deal, Vodafone will sell its stake in the wireless business jointly owned by the two companies, giving Verizon full ownership of its wireless unit.
What's the matter, don't any of these mobile execs know it's a holiday and it's OK to take a little time off?
The verdict here is that patience pays... eventually. Which it certainly did this holiday weekend for swimmer Diana Nyad, whose dream of swimming the 110-mile trek from Cuba to Key West was finally accomplished on her fifth attempt at the feat.
Nyad first attempted this swim when she was 28, when winds knocked her way off course, but this year, Mother Nature (mostly) cooperated, and Nyad showed up on Key West shores after some 53 hours of swimming without the help of a shark tank.
"You're never too old to live your dreams," said Nyad upon her arrival. "Never, ever give up."
In swimming, in Hollywood casting, and apparently, in long sought mobile technology deals.
