What do you do after you found one of the biggest social media flameouts of the 21st century? Why, you record an album, that's what! Andrew Mason apparently has got the music in him, and he's recorded an album, Hardly Workin' based on his experiences as CEO of Groupon, a job from which he was ousted in February.
In that colorful way that musicians have of talking, Mason assures us his album is based on his "most important learnings" and has "valuable takeaways." To managers looking to "make the best use of the album," he advises that "Context is king." Just leaving copies on employees' desks will "achieve an incremental increase in productivity and morale." But managers should instead try more targeted uses, such as helping out a "low-per/hi-po employee."
Business Insider describes the album as "more country than anything else, but includes a taste of hip-hop and gospel." This whole story makes me wish there was an emoticon for you've-got-to-be-kidding-me. MW
