It would be interesting to see what would happen to all these currencies a few years down the road.

@Sunital It's not. There's litecoin, ripple, and some others. Even Amazon has come out with its version of digital currency

I don't believe it has yet achieved the same rank as other currencies as far as that, though many individual investors do buy and sell.

@Ariella, thanks for the clarification.  I am curious to know if BitCoin is the only online currency ? And how can we convert this virtual currency into real currency ?

I have been so tempted to invest in a bitcoin or two, but I just don't have the gambler's spirit. Of course, if I had the guts to do it when I  first thought about it, I would have made a pretty penny by this point. Er, I mean, a pretty bitcoin.

I will take your thought a step further even: I think there will come a day where people will pay their taxes in a virtual world and it not be a blunder. It will be perfectly acceptable.

Ha, not sure. If they have a Second Life profile they may be willing to do that.

@sunitaT I don't believe it has yet achieved the same rank as other currencies as far as that, though many individual investors do buy and sell. You can see bid and ask prices at http://bitcoinity.org/markets It is highly volatile. In the past 6 months it's hit a high of $266 and a low of $11.57

It's worth quite a bit more than that. See quoted prices at http://www.coindesk.com/

@Ariella, thanks for sharing the link . I am surprised to know that single bit coin costs $120. How did they come with that factor ? Is bitcoin traded in the same fashion as other currencies are traded in international market ?

The whole Amazon.reader debate is a double-stupid. It's stupid to think that there's any e-book buyer who doesn't know Amazon's URL, and it was stupider to let ICANN launch the whole free-form TLD initiative to start with.
